The company behind DESERTGREENER

Seawater BV, founded in 2020, brings together the inventors and developers of the DESERTGREENER technology with the goal of making it globally available. In collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP in Holzkirchen, the DESERTGREENER, a solar-thermal device for producing fresh water from seawater and other saltwater sources, is being further developed.

The market potential for this technology is enormous. Given the growing demand for fresh water and the need for sustainable solutions, DESERTGREENER can make a significant contribution—with the right investments and customers—on a global scale.

2008

The Concept and Origin: The idea for DESERTGREENER was born in 2008 by Carl Albrecht Waldstein, with the goal of combating the global water crisis.

2008

In 2008, the first DESERTGREENER prototype was developed. It successfully demonstrated the ability to efficiently extract fresh water from seawater using solar energy.

2009

In 2009, the first patent for the ground-breaking seawater desalination technology of DESERTGREENER was filed.

2017

In 2017, DESERTGREENER entered into a collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP). This collaboration provided valuable scientific support and enabled the optimization and further development of the desalination technology.

2018

In 2018, DESERTGREENER received its second patent, covering additional technical improvements and efficiency enhancements of the technology. This patent strengthened the position of DESERTGREENER as a leading innovator in the water desalination sector.

2024

In April 2024, the sale of DGRX tokens began, which are backed by up to 24% of the DESERTGREENER economy.

2024

In July 2024, DESERTGREENER started preparations for the construction of the first pilot plants. These plants are designed to test the technology under real conditions and demonstrate the feasibility of large-scale projects in desert regions worldwide.

Our vision

Our vision is to create a world where water scarcity is a thing of the past and deserts and saline soils are transformed into fertile, livable landscapes.

We strive to use our advanced DESERTGREENER technology to develop sustainable water supply solutions that enable new life wherever water is lacking.

Our goal is to revolutionize agriculture, ensure food security and provide new opportunities for people in affected regions by desalinating seawater, recycling salinated soils and using water resources efficiently.

We see a future in which our technology helps to reduce migration due to water scarcity and create stable living conditions for all.

Our mission

Our mission is to provide sustainable solutions to the global water crisis with the innovative DESERTGREENER technology.

We rely on state-of-the-art methods of seawater desalination, water treatment and efficient irrigation to create new opportunities in both desert regions and coastal areas with water scarcity.

By restoring and enhancing salinized soils, we enable productive agriculture and strengthen local economies. Our commitment includes working with communities, research institutions and partners worldwide to improve access to water, increase agricultural production and sustainably improve people’s quality of life.

Our mission statement

DESERTGREENER stands for innovation, sustainability and social responsibility. Our core values are:

  • Innovation: we drive research and development to develop breakthrough technologies to address global water scarcity. Our seawater desalination and soil desalination solutions are setting new standards in the industry.
  • Sustainability: We are committed to environmentally friendly and resource-efficient approaches that are sustainable in the long term and protect natural ecosystems.
  • Collaboration: We work closely with local communities, international partners and scientific institutions to develop customized solutions that meet the needs of local people.
  • Quality: We strive for the highest quality standards in all our processes and products to ensure sustainable and reliable results.
  • Responsibility: We recognize our social and environmental responsibility and act accordingly to have a positive and lasting impact on society and the environment.

Our patents

Our technology was developed with the help of the Fraunhofer Institute. It is also protected by patents in the target markets and manufacturing countries.
